Services
Wherever you are in the family building process, Weaving Family is here to support you. Whether you are just starting to consider pregnancy, planning a homebirth, or need support post-partum we are here for you. We also provide gynecologic care and intrauterine insemination. All in-person care is done in your own home for optimal comfort, ease, and access.
Homebirth
Prenatal care generally consists of 7-10 visits over the course of your pregnancy. Each visit is an hour long. Our visits are guided by what you find supportive. Care can include:
pregnancy education and medical guidance
lab testing with options for genetic screening
referrals for ultrasound
childbirth and lactation education
MD consultation and referral if necessary
After 37 weeks of pregnancy, the midwife is on-call to attend your birth. She and a qualified assistant will provide continuous support during active labor, birth, and a few hours after birth. Before she leaves your home, she will do a gentle, head to toe exam of your newborn.
Included in homebirth services is comprehensive post-partum and newborn care. The midwife will return to your home for post-partum visits at 2 days, 1-2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months post-partum. These visits include:
assessment of physical recovery from birth
education for the entire family
lactation/ infant feeding support
nutrition guidance
Fertility and Conception
Our fertility care and conception support centers LGBTQ individuals and families. These visits are designed to answer all your questions about the logistics of getting pregnant without ready access to sperm. We’ll cover preconception health, including any necessary labs, and discuss options for sourcing sperm. We offer IUI for clients who purchase frozen sperm from a sperm bank.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI is a simple procedure where washed sperm is placed directly in the uterus to achieve pregnancy. IUI increases the chance of conception when using frozen sperm.
Well-Person Care
Gender- and sexuality-affirming, trauma-informed gynecologic care from the comfort of your own home. Care can include:
cervical cancer screening (Pap smear)
contraception counseling and prescribing
STD testing
Post-Partum Packages
Not all families can or want to have a homebirth, but all families deserve holistic post-partum care. Our post-partum care is designed to nurture and hold you during this vulnerable, raw transition period. Your family will benefit from the midwife’s medical knowledge and her years of doula experience. Post-partum packages include the same offerings listed under post-partum and newborn care above, as well as light housekeeping and meal preparation. We offer three care packages:
Weaving Cotton Package- two 4-hour visits in the first week after birth*
Weaving Linen Package- five 4-hour visits in the first two weeks after birth
Weaving Wool Package- ten 4-hour visits in the first month after birth
*We offer post-partum care to families that expand via adoption and surrogacy, as well as to families whose babies have been in the NICU. If you are expecting to bring a newborn or NICU graduate home and looking for support please get in touch! You can purchase the same packages and visits will be timed according to when the baby or babies arrive home.
